Throughout my career, I’ve developed a strong foundation in SEO, content strategy, and link-building through a mix of agency roles and personal projects. These experiences allowed me to deliver measurable results for clients and create content that drives traffic and visibility.

Professional Experience: ConsumerCo

During my more than 10 years at ConsumerCo, I advanced into a Strategic SEO Content Manager role, building on years of experience in copywriting, account management, and PR outreach. I developed and executed dozens of SEO strategies, managed large-scale link-building campaigns, and created high-performing content.

Some of my key accomplishments at ConsumerCo include:

  • Increasing organic traffic by up to 200% within 6–12 months for multiple clients.
  • Managing link-building budgets collectively worth more than $100k per month.
  • Building thousands of high-quality backlinks for internal clients and agencies.
  • Creating content strategies that regularly ranked articles in the top three Google search results, often featured in snippets and “People Also Ask” sections.
  • Worked with the team to develop and use AI tools for content creation, boosting productivity and scaling growth.

Hobby Blog: Artistic Aerial

While I’ve had the opportunity to work on SEO campaigns for well-known brands and large-scale projects, confidentiality agreements prevent me from sharing specifics.

One example I can share is Artistic Aerial, a niche blog I created in 2015. The site focused on aerial silks, aerial hoop, and pole fitness, featuring both informational posts and a directory of studios across the United States. Through strategic content creation and advanced SEO techniques—an impressive result for a hobby blog without dedicated link-building efforts or paid promotion. This demonstrates the power of targeted keywords and valuable content to drive organic traffic.

While I eventually stepped away from the project due to shifting personal interests and time constraints, the results speak for themselves. The attached graphs highlight the growth in organic traffic and keyword rankings, showcasing my ability to build and optimize websites effectively, even with limited time and a shoestring budget.

Etsy SEO: The SEO Shoppe

In 2022, I launched The SEO Shoppe, a side hustle focused on providing small business owners with tools to improve their Etsy shop rankings. I created and sold keyword lists tailored to specific niches, as well as SEO workbooks and guides designed to help sellers optimize their listings and boost traffic.

Despite being a very part-time effort, the shop achieved notable results, including:

  • 9,452 visits, with a 2.8% conversion rate leading to 260 orders.
  • Reaching buyers in 223 cities across 21 countries.
  • Generating $1,065.61 in revenue through $4 digital downloads.
  • Receiving 87 reviews with a 4.5-star average, reflecting customer satisfaction and trust in the resources provided.

The SEO Shoppe demonstrated how data-driven keyword strategies and actionable guides can empower small businesses to succeed on platforms like Etsy. This project also reinforced my ability to identify market needs and deliver effective, user-friendly SEO resources. It’s a reminder that SEO isn’t just about Google—it’s also about optimizing for smaller, niche search engines like Etsy, where targeted strategies can have a significant impact on visibility and sales.

I was ultimately priced out of the market as software tools for Etsy sellers improved, but this side hustle was a fun and rewarding experiment that showcased the power of SEO in driving results, even on a smaller scale.

Applying SEO to TikTok: ThatHyggeLife

In a 2021 experiment, I applied SEO keyword research techniques to create TikTok content for ThatHyggeLife, which focuses on cozy living and hygge-inspired ideas. Using nothing but SEO-driven strategies and stock video footage, I optimized both the post captions and on-screen text to include high-volume keywords and trends. With only 11 videos, the results were impressive, with the most popular video reaching over 138,000 views.

This experiment demonstrated how SEO principles can be applied to other platforms to drive visibility and engagement regardless of available resources.
